In this study, photocatalytic (PC) and photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) treatment methods were comparatively investigated as a possible means of removing humic acid (HA) following absorbance at 254nm (UV(254)) and total organic carbon (TOC) analysis. The enhanced HA degradation rates were obtained in the PEC system over the conventional PC process under acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions. Preliminary and binary experiments were performed to determine the selectivity of the photoanode in terms of HA and chloride oxidation. TOC, chlorine and photocurrent parameters proved that HA was selectively removed before chlorine generation. The inhibitory effect of carbonate ions on the performance of photoanode was also studied under different pH values.  相似文献

The abundantly available industrial waste product Morus alba L. pomace (MAP) is one of the cost-effective biosorbent for removal of metal ions from aqueous solutions. Hence, in the present study, we aimed to test the ability of MAP to remove Cd(II) ions through batch biosorption process. Firstly, MAP was characterized using several techniques, and then the influence of various experimental parameters such as initial pH of the aqueous solution, initial Cd(II) concentration, contact time, MAP concentration, and temperature were evaluated upon the biosorption process. It was found that the maximum uptake of Cd(II) ions occurred at initial pH 6.0 and optimum contact time was observed as 60 min. Cd(II) ions adsorption on MAP analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models and the maximum monolayer biosorption capacity of MAP was found to be 21.69 mg?g?1 by using the Langmuir isotherm model. The pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, and intraparticle diffusion models were employed to describe the biosorption kinetics. In order to investigate the thermodynamic properties of the biosorption process, the changes in the Gibbs free energy (?G), enthalpy (?H), and entropy (?S) were also evaluated and it has been concluded that the process was feasible, spontaneous, and endothermic in the temperature range of 5–40 °C.  相似文献

The increasing use of ozone in water disinfection processes has been the focus of considerable concern in regards to inorganic disinfection by product formation of bromate in waters containing bromide. Due to the public health risk caused by the presence of bromate as a suspected carcinogen, attention had been addressed to the conditions under which bromate is formed. In this study, photoanodic bromine generation and bromate (BrO(3)(-)) formation were investigated using a TiO(2) electrode in a photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) treatment process. The separation of anodic and cathodic reactions in the PEC system resulted in a pH decrease from 9.3 to 3.0 in the photoanode compartment and an increase to 11.0 in the cathode compartment. Under a photo-illumination intensity of 5.7 m W cm(-2) UV, a biasing potential of +1.0V vs SCE, a pH of 6.0 and at a NaBr concentration of 1.0 x 10(-2) M, active bromine formation increased over time with 2.4 x 10(-6) M min(-6) rate and reached a steady-state concentration of 1.44 x 10(-4) M in 60 min. Bromate formation was detected after a lag-period of 15 min and exhibited a continuous increasing trend with respect to irradiation time. No bromate formation was observed below pH 6.5 whereas an increasing bromate concentrations and pH up to pH=8.5 were noted.  相似文献

The West Anatolian Region is one of the most important areas for industrialization, population density and traffic in Turkey. Therefore, the leaves of Populus nigra L. (Salicaceae), which are used as biomonitor to investigate the levels of the trace elements Cd, Pb, Fe, Zn and Cu, were sampled at 30 locations having different pollution levels in the region. The concentrations of elements were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The samples were collected at both reference and contaminated locations where iron was found as the priority element. The strong association between a gradient of contamination and concentration in all samples tested indicates that they are reflecting well the environmental changes, and that they appear as appropriate biological indicators of heavy metal contamination.  相似文献

Norovirus (NoV) is recognised as one of the most common causes of foodborne infections, and shellfish are a well-documented source of this virus. The presence of NoV in shellfish has not previously been investigated in Turkey, and hence the aim of this study was to determine the frequency of human NoV genogroups I and II in mussels collected from the Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey. A total of 320 mussels representing 110 samples originating along the Bosphorus coast were collected from fish distributors. RNA was extracted using the RNeasy Mini Kit and real-time RT–PCR performed using primers specific for NoV genogroup I and II. Amongst the 110 samples, 5 (4.5%) were found to be positive for NoV genogroup II by SYBR Green assay; no genogroup I was detected. A positive signal was obtained by SYBR Green for NoV Genogroup II in mussels collected in October, November and December 2008, and February and July 2009. Only four out of five SYBR Green positive samples could be confirmed by the use of a NoV GII probe-based real-time RT–PCR. The average count and SD of Enterobactericaeae, E. coli and sulphide reductase anaerobic bacteria in PCR positive mussels were 3.56 log ± 0.96 log, 2.32 log ± 0.77 log and 1.70 log ± 0.56 log, respectively. This study shows that NoV Genogroup II is present in mussels collected from the Bosphorus, Istanbul, and may constitute a risk to human health.  相似文献

Taumetopoea pityocampa (Den. and Schiff) is one of the most common defoliator insects found in Turkey. Although several methods have been used in attempting to control this major forest pest up to now but the problem still remains largely unsolved in Turkey. There is an urgent need to control and minimize the damages caused by these defoliating caterpillars. Therefore, we planned and applied field treatments using by Foray 76B and VBC 60074 to put forward to the efficiency of these bioinsecticides against PPM. The bioinsecticides included in Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki (Btk). The vulnerable performance of a single application has been observed in the field trial of these bioinsecticides with mortality rates ranging from 97 to 99% in Turkey's pine forests.  相似文献

In this study, we analyze the complexity of plant spatial patterns and diversity along a successional gradient resulting from grazing disturbance in four characteristic ecosystems of the Mediterranean region. Grazing disturbance include not only defoliation by animals, but also associated disturbances as animal trampling, soil compaction, and mineralization by deposition of urine and feces. The results show that woodland and dense matorral are more resistant to species loss than middle dense and scattered matorral, or grassland. Information fractal dimension declined as we moved from a dense to a discontinuous matorral, increasing as we moved to a more scattered matorral and a grassland. In all studied cases, the characteristic species of the natural vegetation declined in frequency and organization with grazing disturbance. Heliophyllous species and others with postrate or rosette twigs increased with grazing pressure, particularly in dense matorral. In the more degraded ecosystem, only species with well-adapted traits, e.g., buried buds or unpalatable qualities showed a clear increase with grazing. Indeed, the homogeneity of species distribution within the plant community declined monotonically with grazing impact. Conversely, the spatial organization of the characteristic plants of each community increased in the better-preserved areas, being also related to the sensitivity of the species to grazing impact. The degree of autocorrelation of plant spatial distribution at the species level and the information fractal dimension at the community level allow us to quantify the degree of degradation of natural communities and to determine the sensitivity of key species to disturbance.  相似文献

采用混凝-催化氧化组合工艺预处理氨基C酸生产废水,考察了混凝剂加入量、废水pH、氧化剂加入量、反应时间和催化剂的重复使用次数等因素对废水处理效果的影响。混凝-催化氧化法预处理氨基C酸生产废水的最佳工艺条件为:质量分数为10%的FeSO4溶液作混凝剂,加入量为250InL/L;质量分数为1%的ClO2溶液作氧化剂,加入量为75mL/L;Ni/AC作催化剂,加入量为40g/L;废水pH为3.2;催化氧化反应时间为60min。在该条件下,废水的COD去除率可达78.4%,BOD,/COD由原来的0.076提高到0.292,可生化性得到明显改善。Ni/AC催化剂连续使用7次后仍保持稳定的催化活性。经济性初步分析表明,1t废水的处理成本约为16元。  相似文献

This study was carried out to determine the possible effects of the Afsin-Elbistan Coal Power Plant (AECPP) on the environment.. The soil and plant samples were collected, based on the dominant wind direction, which is from northeast to southwest and we defined the northeast part of the plant as the less contaminated direction (LCD) and the southwest part as the more contaminated direction (MCD). The results indicated that the AECPP created environmental problems and caused contaminations especially in the MCD. The results of the statistical analysis for the measured attributes between the LCD and the MCD showed that there were significant differences for pH, SO4(-2)-S, Ni and Pb. Significant correlations were found between the distance from the AECPP and some of the measured soil and plant parameters in the MCD. The concentrations of SO4(-2)-S, Ni and Pb decreased as the distance increased. The discharge water carries a potential risk for the aquatic life and soil health in the area. The honey quality was also affected negatively by fly ash and emission.  相似文献
